Dunkin’ Donuts Will Get Rid of Foam Cups by 2020

We know Planet Earth is in trouble with changing weather patterns, and a significant problem with plastics polluting and harming the oceans. The planet deserves the respect, and need the help, of all citizens and corporations.

One significant problem faced around the globe is the increased use of foam packaging, which has often been cited as a source of many environmental problems. A number of environmentally-focused organizations have challenged global companies to reduce or eliminate their use of polystyrene.

One company heeding the call is Dunkin’ Donuts. The company recently announced its plan to eliminate all polystyrene foam cups throughout its global supply chain by 2020. The coffee giant will replace foam coffee cups with double-walled paper cups. The majority of the company’s international operations have already begun using paper cups; New York City and California will be adopting the new cups this year.

The move to eliminate foam cups is a significant change in the company’s supply and distribution chains. This is no small matter – there are more than 9,000 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in the U.S. alone – that’s a lot of coffee cups!

Mug Keeps Drinks Hot!

It’s a small thing, but a pet peeve of many coffee drinkers is that they absolutely hate it when their mugs of coffee get cold, and have to be microwaved or refilled in order to be hot again. Reheating changes the taste. And then it gets cold again, and has to be reheated yet again, and so on…There should be a solution for the cold desktop mug of coffee.

Amazon’s Treasure Truck

Amazon continues to move beyond its digital roots and into the physical world. This time, it’s the “Treasure Truck” – a delivery vehicle for daily deals that drives around  neighborhoods in Seattle. Amazon compares the Treasure Truck to the neighborhood ice cream truck, brining joy, fun, laughter, and deals to different neighborhoods. The truck – nicknamed Scout – is bedazzled with lights, signs, display cases, and music.

How does it work? First, you have to be located in Seattle as that is the only location currently in operation. Then, using the Amazon mobile app installed on your smartphone, you can see the products and deals on the truck, as well as get alerts about deals and locations. Next, buy the item using the app, and then drive to the listed pickup location. At the pickup location, Amazon employees are stationed in white tents next to the truck and they quickly deliver the order to you.

The deals are limited in quantity so buyers have to act fast!
